11 England Golf youngsters set for German International Amateur Championship




England Golf have named 11 players who will play in the Boys & Girls German International Amateur Championship at Golf Club Hardenberg from Thursday 30 May-Saturday 1 June.

Sadie Adams (Royal Birkdale), Isla McDonald-O’Brien (Shrewsbury), Chloe Tarbard (Royal Norwich), Amelia Wan (Sherwood Forest) and Ellie Lichtenhein (Buckinghamshire) will all play in the girls’ event, while Ben Bolton (Enville), Seb Desoisa (Alcadeisa, Spain), Daniel Hayes (Bramhall), Monty Holcombe (Walton Heath), Oliver Toyer (St Neots) and Charlie Rusbridge (Colne Valley) will represent England in the boys’ event.


The tournament format is 54 holes of stroke play over three days and Women’s Performance Manager Becca Hembrough said: “We’re very much looking forward to our youngsters testing themselves against the best amateurs in Europe at one of the premier individual championships they will play in during the year.”

Sadie Adams (Royal Birkdale, Lancashire)

- The 17-year-old won the Fairhaven Trophy in April and enjoyed a top-10 finish in Scottish Girls’ Open Championship

- She was part of the GB&I Junior Vagliano team in 2023 and represented England at the European Girls’ Team Championship and R&A Girls’ & Boys’ Home Internationals


Isla McDonald-O’Brien (Shrewsbury, Shropshire)

- Top-10 finish in Junior Orange Bowl Invitational and top-20 finish at European Nations Cup in Sotogrande, Spain

- In 2023, made the semi-finals of The R&A Girls' Amateur Championship and won the Fairhaven Trophy

- McDonald-O’Brien, 17, helped England win The R&A Women’s & Men’s Home Internationals in August and featured in England team for European Girls’ Team Championship and in International Match v Spain


Chloe Tarbard (Royal Norwich, Norfolk)

- The 16-year-old won the Scottish Girls’ Open Championship in April and finished 3rd in the Fairhaven Trophy

- In 2023, won the English U16 Girls' Open Amateur Stroke Play and was part of the GB&I Junior Vagliano team


Amelia Wan (Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire)

- The 17-year-old finished 5th in the European Nations Cup in Sotogrande, Spain

- In 2023, helped England win R&A Women’s & Men’s Home Internationals in August and featured in England team for European Girls’ Team Championship and in International Match v Spain

- Also finished 7th in English Girls’ Open Amateur Stroke Play, 4th at Fairhaven Trophy and 2nd at Northampton Tigress


Ellie Lichtenhein (Buckinghamshire)

- The 14-year-old finished 2nd in this year’s Fairhaven Trophy and played in the England v Spain U16 match last month, winning 2.5 out of 4 points

- Helped Buckinghamshire lift the Women’s County Finals title in September

- In 2023, enjoyed top-10 finishes at R&A Girls' U16 Amateur Championship and English Girls' Open Amateur Stroke Play


Ben Bolton (Enville, Staffordshire)

- The 17-year-old finished tied-3rd at the Peter McEvoy Trophy in April

- Represented England at Octagonal Match in Spain in January and England Men at International Match v France in May

- In 2024, already enjoyed top-20 finishes at the U18 French Open, Portuguese International Amateur and Junior Orange Bowl International (USA)

- In 2023, won Faldo Series Grand Final (UAE) in November by seven shots, European Young Masters in Slovakia, Faldo Series England Midlands Championship, and Edge Golf Championship 4 (Portugal)


Seb Desoisa (Alcadeisa GC, Spain)

- Desoisa, 17, who hails from Gibraltar, featured in the European Cup of Nations in Sotogrande, Spain

- Enjoyed 13 top-five finishes since the start of 2023, including wins at the Spanish U18 Championship, Almeria City Championship, UPGM Tour Hato Verde and two victories on the TORO TOUR Costa del Sol Winter Series


Daniel Hayes (Bramhall, Cheshire)

- Hayes, 17, has impressed over the past 15 months with five top-five finishes in the USA, UK and Spain, including victory at The Cheshire Cat, a tied-2nd finish at the English U18 Amateur Stroke Play Championship and 3rd-place at the Spanish U18 International Championship

- He also represented England in the Octagonal Match in Spain in January


Monty Holcombe (Walton Heath, Surrey)

- The 17-year-old won the Boys’ County Finals with Surrey in August

- Represented GB&I at the Jacques Leglise Trophy

- Enjoyed a top-10 finish at Peter McEvoy Trophy in April and a top-20 finish at the U18 French Open


Charlie Rusbridge (Colne Valley, Essex)

- The 16-year-old won the Keating Trophy in April and finished 4th at the Fairhaven Trophy a week later

- Finished 3rd at U18 French Open, and enjoyed top-20 finishes at Portuguese International Amateur Championship and Peter McEvoy Trophy

- Also won the FET – Portugal at the start of the year


-Oliver Toyer (St Neots, Cambridgeshire)

- The 17-year-old has enjoyed top-10 finishes this year at the Fairhaven Trophy, Hampshire Salver and World Junior Golf Championship in Spain, and top-20 finishes at Peter McEvoy Trophy and U18 French Open

- In 2023, finished 2nd in English U18 Amateur Open Stroke Play and made the last 16 of The R&A Boys' Amateur Championship
