Enjoy Golf every day at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club

Tyrrells Wood Golf Club in Leatherhead is an enlightened and innovative Club that aims to maximise its members enjoyment. Tyrrells breaks the mould of the stereotypical ‘private members’ golf club and is in touch with modern practices and techniques ensuring the enjoyment of the finest standards and facilities for all members guests and visitors to the club.

The club is owned by the members, for the members, and members enjoy the benefits associated with the relaxed ‘roll-up’ culture that is the premise of most of the golf at Tyrrells Wood. The roll ups give the members more freedom to play, as and when they want without having to organise a tee time or playing partners; it also offers new members the ideal opportunity to meet new people and increase their golfing circle of friends.

With a new and progressive management team in place and ongoing clubhouse and course renovations planned, Tyrrells Wood Golf Club is most definitely the place to be.

Located on the edge of the North Downs with chalk subsoil, the superbly presented course has great natural drainage and spectacular views, upholding excellent course conditions all year round. Members and guests alike benefit from no temporary tees or greens, and enjoy the use of trolleys all year, without those frustrating winter bans!

Designed by five-time Open Champion James Braid in the early 1920’s, the course presents a challenge to golfers of all abilities and is renowned for its quick and undulating greens.

The beautiful grade II listed clubhouse has a well-deserved reputation for offering an extensive range of great food, all prepared from locally sourced suppliers; from light informal snacks in the 19th, afternoon tea in the Eddie Ward bar, wine and sharing platters on the terrace to the superb Sunday lunch carvery. Testament to the popularity is the increasing numbers joining the social section of the club.

The location of the Club together with the tastefully decorated clubhouse and the stunning views make Tyrrells a popular wedding venue in the south. Our dedicated Wedding team are on hand to help couples plan their perfect day.

Tyrrells offers a number of membership categories to cater for all types of full golfers. A successful Academy membership scheme is also available, which introduces new golfers to the game. With the assistance of the club’s PGA professional, novice players are guided through a 12-month programme of tuition. This is combined with access to the course and aims to develop their standards of play so that club membership can be attained.

About the Course at Tyrrells

The original course, designed by James Braid, has undergone continuous improvement over the years, although care has been taken to preserve Braid’s unique approach to green and bunker design.

Tyrrells Wood is located on the edge of the North Downs and the typical down land nature of the area was transformed by the substantial tree-planting programme implemented in the 19th century to provide a unique parkland character.

The club is continually reinvesting to ensure it maintains the excellent conditions of the course and the superb standards of the clubhouse.

There are few finer places in Surrey to play golf, among the specimen trees that frame magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

The course, which benefits from two starts, is a tough challenge but rewards golfers who are able to plot their way around a course that is renowned for quick and undulating greens.

The perfect Hosts

During 2014 Tyrrells Wood was proud to welcome the Medal Winners Final for the ladies Section of Southern England Golf, and the U15/16 County Championships.
