On what can only be described as a terrible days weather for golf the Surrey U12 Championships took place at Milford Golf Club. Due to the heavy rain sweeping across the South East the scheduled start was delayed by an hour to give the weather a chance to improve. At events like this we take very seriously not only the safety of the youngsters but also their enjoyment of the great game, and with the weather starting to show the required improvement the decision was made to go ahead with the competition and it was pleasing to have all the players and parents fully support the go ahead.
After battling round the 18 holes of Milford, which it has to be said played extremely well after receiving such a large amount of water from the heavens, the lads came in somewhat wet and bedraggled but amazingly still smiling. Several cards had to be re-written due to some very soggy ones but after all the scores were in Aiden Millham (Windlesham) was declared the U12 County Champion for 2016, Kalyan Reddy (Wimbledon Park) was 2nd with Hashim Banday (Royal Mid Surrey) only a shot further back in 3rd.
