This September's Ryder Cup rides a wave of excitement, following golf's tremendous return to the Olympics last month. Justin Rose, still charged up by his gold medal performance in Rio, will be battling it out with his team-mates on the fairways of Hazeltine National Golf Club to try and seal a fourth successive win for Europe.
To celebrate this September's Ryder Cup, Richmond Park Golf Course is hosting its own version of the event, with a matchplay competition held on the Duke's Course on Friday 30th September.
Nick McArthur, Golf Services Manager for Richmond Park explains: "We're giving golfers a chance to create their own matchplay drama, with our 18-hole fourball event. It's a pairs competition, open to both members and visitors. Entry is just £30 per pair and includes breakfast on arrival and a meal after golf, so we expect it to be popular."
Golfers will be drawn to play for either the Red or Blue team, with individual match results counting towards the final outcome, just like the Ryder Cup fourball matches.
Nick continues: "Every player from the winning team will be awarded with a personalised gift pack. What's more, there'll be spot prizes on the day for nearest the pin and longest drives, adding to the excitement. You'll get to meet other golfers as you compete in a friendly match, in the true spirit of the Ryder Cup."
