While the 2016 golfing season draws to a close, the Junior Section at Bramshaw Golf Club are preparing for their biggest competition of the year – the ‘Manor Masters’ Junior Open - to be held on Monday 24 October 2016.
Following its success last year with over 80 local young golfers taking part, the team at Bramshaw are keen to ensure another enjoyable day supported by parents and family members. Posters promoting the Masters Junior Open have been sent to 90 clubs in the area as well as emails to previous participants. However, the club is keen to invite any budding young golfer to join in. Entrance costs £15 and includes the golf, a meal, prizes and refreshments. Maximum handicaps are 24 (boys), 30 (girls).
Nev James, Junior Organiser, Bramshaw Junior Academy said “Each year I wonder if we can do it again in terms of attracting more young golfers and each year, the number of entrants always surpasses my expectations”. “Our Junior Open offers young golfers the opportunity to play a competition on quality course at great value. Together with the support of parents and family members, it’s one of the most enjoyable events in the area for junior golfers and the reason why we hold it year after year. We’re extremely proud of the Junior section we’re building here at Bramshaw and are working hard with the local community to bring young people into the game”.
The Club’s Junior Open comes off the back of a very successful summer that saw Bramshaw Juniors win two of Hampshire’s most coveted Junior competitions for the first time in the Club’s history: the Hampshire Green Jackets and the Blackmoor Shield. The Green Jackets victory also enabled Bramshaw to represent Hampshire in the English Junior Team Championships, finishing an impressive 4th out of 32 counties.
Bramshaw’s Junior Academy has grown steadily since 2009 developing into a thriving and active section heavily supported by the Club’s Management, Committee, Members, the Assistant Pro and Junior Organiser. It’s also a Golf Roots Centre supporting initiatives to help golf in the community, firmly establishing Bramshaw as a family-friendly club.
