The social golfing phenomenon My Circle Golf is to host one of its popular autumn/winter series open golf events in Hampstead on December 10.
The My Circle Golf app helps people find, connect and play with a community of like-minded golfers - but it also hosts its own events for users and Hampstead Golf Club is holding the latest next week.
Regarded by many as probably the most interesting nine-hole course in North London, Hampstead Golf Club was founded in 1893, The classic parkland course was laid out by one of Britain's most prolific designers of the late 19th and early 20th century, Tom Dunn. Included on his CV were Ryder Cup host Ganton, the outstanding links at Hayling, and Sheringham, one of the country's finest cliff-top courses.
Whether looking for players of a similar standard, age, location or profession, My Circle Golf enables people to meet new partners, discover new courses and broaden social and business connections across the south-east of England - all courtesy of the searchable options within the simple-to-use app.
And the Hampstead GC event will provide golfers in North London with the opportunity to meet more like-minded, sociable golfers in a competitive, yet friendly environment. Prizes are awarded for the best nett scores.
Entering the competition could not be simpler. Once golfers have downloaded the free app, they will receive an invite detailing the date, time and venue - much like they would receive an invite from a friend on other social media.
The price of entry varies for each competition and venue, though each will offer excellent value. And, the player with the highest accumulated Stableford points score - using the three best scores for each player - by the end of the autumn/winter series, will win a Scotty Cameron Golo 5 putter. What's more, for those people who are unable to participate, My Circle Golf can assist in setting up their own events to count towards the series scores.
The app was created by keen golfer and Cambridge graduate Gian Paolo Ziletti, who had found it difficult to find fellow golfers when he first moved to the UK from Italy. Inspired by social networks, which brought together groups of like-minded people in social ‘circles', the entrepreneur conceived My Circle Golf to provide the same service for golfers.
In addition to finding partners based on people's availability and location, My Circle Golf allows golfers to look for people they'd like to play with in the hope it can help foster new friendships and business connections.
Ziletti said: "My Circle Golf hopes to encourage far more people to dust off their clubs, or provide help, guidance and a way into the game for those looking to try out the sport for the first time or in a new area."
Available now from the Apple app store and Google Play store, My Circle Golf is free to download. It currently provides connections and locations for people wishing to play in London and the south-east and plans for a national roll-out early in 2017.
