Teamwork pays off for Banstead Downs Plane and Marchbanks take home the trophy

PGA Head Professional Stephen Plane and club manager Bob Marchbanks from Banstead Downs Golf Club are this year’s winners of the Teamwork Trophy in the PGA South Professional and Secretary Challenge, supported by Open Solutions.

21 teams played at Woodcote Park Golf Club and with two birdies in the last three holes, the Banstead Downs team edged out Littlehampton’s PGA Head Professional Lewis Parker and general manager Stuart McConachie on a count back, as both pairs had tied with cards of 6-under-par 66.

Plane thanked Golf Game Book run by Clarion Golf for the live scoring provided on the day, as team Banstead Downs could see exactly what was needed to catch the Littlehampton pair.

Besides the winners’ cheques for the professionals thanks to Open Solutions, there was also champagne and wine for the prize winners from wine merchants Ellis of Richmond.

CEO Ed Beale delighted all the competitors when he announced that Open Solutions will be sponsoring the PGA Professional & Secretary Challenge again in 2019: “The Teamwork Trophy is a terrific and very popular event thanks to Woodcote Park’s PGA Pro Wraith Grant and manager Adrian Dawson, so I’m very pleased to support their initiative and The PGA again next year.”
