ELLIOT GROVES “STORMS” TO VICTORY AT THE FOURTH ANNUAL PUTTENHAM GOLF CLUB PGA SOUTH REGION PRO AM

Thursday 20th September 2018 Puttenham Golf Club

With the Puttenham golf course in pristine condition 92 golfers in total, which constituted a full field set off in the fourth annual Puttenham Golf Club PGA South Region Pro-Am for what proved to be a great day’s golf.

A brand new Mitsubishi Mirage Car had been put up by Normandy Garage for a hole in one at the 176 yard, par 3 18th but sadly, despite a few close calls, a hole in one proved too illusive on the day!

Local PGA Professional Elliot Groves (Romsey Golf Club) won the individual professional event with a two under par round of 69, the only under par round of the day. This was a very creditable performance in what proved extremely tricky conditions as the blustery wind of the approaching Storm Bronagh blew across the 6220 yard par 71 Puttenham layout throughout the day.

The winning team included Puttenham member Ted Mooney, his brother Declan and Bill Gardner both from Worthing Golf Club, and team professional Robert Daw from Effingham Golf Club who scored an admirable 14 under par total.

It also proved a great day for the Captains Charities as the £450 was raised in the pro-am raffle.
