Scorecards to be buried for prosperity in 900-year celebration time capsule
Chris Weston, the Kent stalwart from Sittingbourne & Milton Regis who partnered amateur Megan Caulkett, shot a 9 hole total of three-under-par to win the Leeds Castle Pro-Am, supported by club sponsor Arkas.
The pair pipped London Golf Club’s Paul Stuart and his parent on a countback into second spot. Hard on their heels on two-under-par were two more pairings led by Canterbury’s Milo King and Tonbridge’s James Jones.
In a change to the usual four player team format, each PGA Professional partnered one amateur and competed in a BetterBall Pairs Stroke Play format, recording the best nett score at each hole.
In the Professional’s individual event, Knole Park’s Andrew Butterfield, Canterbury’s Milo King and St. Augustine’s David Ledingham all shot one-under 33s to split the winner’s pot.
Leeds Castle celebrates its 900 year anniversary this year, so it was an added a bonus on the day when Sir David Steel as Chief Executive of the Leeds Castle Foundation made the official announcement that local PGA Professional Scott Stevens would be Leeds Castle’s new Head Professional.
