England's women's and girls' squads are primed for a busy month of top-class internation

The squads have today been named for three prestigious events – the European Nations Championship, the French Under 21 International and the Scottish Girls’ Championship.

Cornwall’s Emily Toy, Yorkshire’s Charlotte Heath (pictured above) and Lily May Humphreys from Essex will represent England at the European Nations Championship at Sotogrande Golf Club in Spain between April 15-18.

Last year, England’s women secured a bronze medal in the team event.

However, with Women’s Amateur champion Toy, Australian Amateur champion Heath and Curtis Cup player Humphreys in the squad, hopes are high for both the individual and team events in 2020.

Six players will fly the flag for England at the French Under 21 Women’s Championship at Saint Cloud Golf Club in Paris between April 9-13.

Heath and Humphreys will also take part at the French before flying on to the European Nations Championship.

Joining them on the trip to France are Mimi Rhodes from Somerset, Northumberland duo Rosie Belsham and Jess Baker and Surrey’s Lottie Woad.

All six players will compete for the Trophee Esmond which begins with a 36-hole stroke play event before the top 32 move forward into the match play.

In addition to the main event, the top 16 players aged 18 or under who fail to reach the knockout stages of the Trophee Esmond, will qualify for the Trophee Cartier. Every England player bar Heath and Rhodes is eligible for this competition.

Closer to home, six members of the England set-up will take part in the Scottish Girls’ Championship at Powfoot Golf Club near Annan between April 8-10.

Cumbria’s Caitlin Whitehead will be joined by Northumberland’s Rachel Gourley and Libby Bell, Surrey’s Rafiah Banday, Dorset’s Louise Burke and Lydia Cryer from Lancashire.

The format for the three days is stroke play. On top of the main championship, there is also a trophy for the leading player aged under 16. Gourley, Burke and Bell are all eligible for this category.
