Burhill Group Limited (BGL) is proud to announce that two of its local venues, Hoebridge Golf Centre in Woking and Burhill Golf Club in Walton on Thames, have successfully achieved GEO Certified® accreditation.
The status that each club will hold for the next five years is a comprehensive, modern certification that designates a golf facility has met a credible standard in the areas of Nature, Resources, Climate Action and Community. Achieving this accreditation is a firm demonstration of the commitment of both venues to continually improve their sustainable golf practices.
Commenting on the achievement, BGL CEO Colin Mayes, said: “Now more than ever, it is crucial that we operate in the most environmentally sensitive way possible, and this accreditation is a testament to the hard work our staff have put in at both Hoebridge and Burhill; two of our finest venues.
“The greens teams at both sites are constantly looking for innovative ways to achieve the most sustainable and efficient practices, by making improvements to the courses and club facilities wherever possible.”
Hoebridge Golf Centre in Woking features an outstanding, scenic 18-hole golf course, a timesaving 9-hole course and a fun 18-hole short course, ideal for beginners and families. There’s also a floodlit driving range with TrackMan technology, a short game practice area and a well-stocked golf shop.
Nestled in a beautiful parkland setting on the outskirts of Surrey’s Walton on Thames, Burhill Golf Club is the head office of BGL and the ultimate golf and leisure destination. The club, dating back to 1926, boasts two spectacular contrasting 18-hole golf courses as well as a teaching academy and an array of practice facilities all set amidst one of the country’s finest clubhouses.
“BGL showed early leadership in sustainability with its first facility GEO Certified in 2013. They are now one of the most committed management groups worldwide – and the only group with every facility certified. We look forward to working with them on their endeavour to extend their sustainable practices even further,” commented Jonathan Smith, Executive Director GEO Foundation.
