England Boys’ Squad star Aaron Moody enjoyed his first ever hole-in-one in the final round of the Berkshire Trophy to help him seal the title at The Berkshire Golf Club.
The 17-year-old enjoyed 21 birdies and four eagles over the course of the four-day tournament, to help him finish on 271 (-16), five shots ahead of his nearest competitor Cole Self (Ringway).
Moody said: “It’s unbelievable to get the win, but I was feeling confident coming into it as I’d had some good rounds of late. It’s definitely my biggest achievement to date.
“The putter got hot on the first day, and I played solid golf on the final morning and the hole-in-one on 10 this afternoon really helped."
The Burhill golfer made his hole-in-one from 190 yards with a 7-iron on the par-3 10th, and admitted: "Sadly I lost the ball a few holes later!"
Asked about celebrations, he added: “I had a very nice cheeseburger and half a coke to celebrate! But I’m now focusing on the Brabazon Trophy at Moortown this week (21-24 May).
“Although The Berkshire Trophy would be too big to fit in my bedroom, I get a lovely engraved silver salver which will fit nicely on my bedroom shelves!”
